Homeopathy treatment

Why homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a safe, gentle and widely used complementary system of medicine, based on an holistic view of health and illness. Homeopathic remedies are completely harmless and are understood to work by stimulating your body to heal itself without side-effects, thereby making them particularly suitable for use during pregnancy, for nursing mothers and for children. Exactly how they do this is still unknown and research is ongoing, but this form of medicine has been used extensively across the world over the last two centuries.

It is a common misconception that you need to believe in the remedies to receive any benefit from this therapy. No belief is necessary, although, as with all therapies, a positive or simply an open frame of mind will enhance any beneficial effects you might experience.

Homeopathy is a form of ‘energy medicine’ (as is acupuncture, reflexology, kinesiology, etc) and remedies used are specially prepared such that they cannot act on the body in a chemical way.  Unfortunately, this concept is difficult for some members of the conventional scientific community to accept and has led to an ongoing campaign to discredit homeopathy and the prevailing opinion of the conventional medical establishment that there is no robust evidence for its effectiveness. However, please be aware that homeopaths select remedies based on information contained within the extensive homeopathic literature of the past 200 years, which contains a mixture of research and the clinical experience of many thousands of successfully treated individuals worldwide.

wetdaisyWhat can homeopathy be used for?

At any time of life, whatever problems you are having – physical or emotional –
homeopathy could help. This is because the remedies used are carefully selected based on your symptoms and the history of your complaint and do not rely on a medical diagnosis.

Homeopathy can also be used alongside conventional medicine as a supportive therapy, such as after surgery or with chemotherapy. Obviously, physical injuries such as dislocations and fracture require realignment or fixing in place at first but once this has been done, remedies can be used to assist the healing process.

What happens during the consultation?

During the first consultation, all of the information needed to treat you as a unique person will be gathered. This information is recorded in a safe, non-judgmental environment and kept strictly confidential. Unless previously arranged, up to 1½ hours (1 hour for children under 16 years) is allowed for this appointment.

Each follow-up appointment takes up to 45 minutes (30 minutes for children under 16 years) and is used to establish what effects the last prescription has had and what needs to be done next.

What to expect from homeopathic treatment

As homeopathy treats everyone individually it is impossible to say how any one person will respond to remedies. However, the aim of treatment is always to gently and permanently restore health. This may occur quite quickly or proceed much more slowly depending on the condition and energy of each person being treated. Usually, taking homeopathic remedies begins a process of healing that is truly holistic – involving both mind and body.
